Living in Ireland, we’re amongst the last to welcome the new year in Europe and since we have most of our family ahead on us in time, we generally start wishing well for the new year well ahead of midnight.

It is quite funny that according to human convention we are still in the old year, while most of our family have already cheered on the year to come. It is actually quite astonishing to think how we all accept human conventions and we’re not spending a single thought on it. Think about money, festivities, about a lot of cultural concepts, ideals and organizational structures. All these concepts are created by men to keep some kind of control over what is ultimately uncontrollable. Nobody (or very few) doubt these concepts and these creations of the human mind keep us all conventionally safe and sound in the meantime.

Anyway, in relation to the New Year, according to human convention we are in the past and some family are already living the future and the part of our family and friends in the US are living in an even more remote past! Time is truly a relative concept! Can we take it that therefore time travel is possible? All these thoughts whirl through my head while I wish my continental relatives a happy New Year while waiting on our New Year still to come… writing in a time void so to say (LOL).

Now still just over half an hour left in 2022, it is time to reflect about my New Year’s Propositions… what are yours? Cheers!
